Social Housing- reader’s discretion advised.

‘Social housing’; what the fuck does that mean?

I’ll tell you what it means; it means you are poor; you cannot afford to buy. YOU are scum.

Margaret Thatcher started the decline with the ‘right to buy’ bollocks. When all those who could afford to buy OUR council homes had done so, reducing the available stock they had to come up with a new idea to hand our homes to private enterprise; so was born the Housing Association.

Now we are ‘untermensch’ who are unable- or in my case- unwilling to buy; untermensch because we make a choice- a choice disdained by the party of ‘choice’.

We are moving socially and economically back to the 1800s, via the 1900s. Low wages, private landlords in the ascendant, social security and health care declining.

Feel safe today- feel despair for your children and their children.

  2. I came across the first entirely privatised Brent council in London on the internet, run by the Tories.

An entire social housing estate has been evicted and sold to developers to build luxury flats.

Other blogs speak of housing benefit denied to London social housing claimants (or maybe to private tenants?) and rehoused in social housing in Birmingham and even Stoke-on-Trent, with far less job opportunities.

Universal Credit will absorb housing benefit and there is talk also of council tax support.

Universal Credit will have permanent sanctions from Hardship Payments ending being a benefit and becoming a recoverable loan from future benefit or wages by direct deductions from court action.

Universal Credit will also replace working tax credits and sanction part time workers for failing to do the miracle of gaining full time hours, when most new jobs have been low waged part time since 2008.

So whether social housing or housing benefit supported private rental, London especially is being ‘socially cleansed’ and less social housing / capped housing benefit / lost housing benefit with the coming of UC, the poor are being pushed where?

    Into being homeless?

This is to babes to wombs to granny and grandads, by the raised retirement age, all hit by sanctions, cut benefits, Bedroom Tax, less council tax support, in or out of work.

Pensioners threatened with losing Pension Credit.

Raised retirement age denying state pension payout, when this can be paid if can remain in work when half of over 60s are within the working poor.

Vote different on Thursday 7 May, bring in new MPs into Westminster.
Put a pencil cross on the different parties (see my website) for food and shelter.
