“We have to have austerity!”

Why say that; ‘cause we’re To-ry!

It’s not that we are short of cash

But poor folk we do love to bash

Why pay tax to fund the life

Of poor men and their dreadful wife.

And though my offshore pelf is safe

And hidden from the stray and waif

The little that I do imburse

Is squandered on the public purse

To keep the idle, ill and old

Living on my precious gold

So ‘austerity’s’ the battle cry

And fool the plebs with hope and lies

With promises of jam tomorrow

(How much would you like to borrow?)
