The best if you can afford it isn’t choice, whatever the Tories say.

  1. Whist I can agree with the concept on the elimination of all fee paying schools, I am not comfortable with any method that hints or expresses violence as a means to achieve such. I personally seek & follow other political possibilities. Certainly not the current Labour Party !

    • I agree, Victor that a peaceful solution is always the preferred route.

I often reblog Ian Bones blogposts not because I believe in the method, but in the aims.

However, I also reserve the right to take up arms against an oppressor, if that is the only solution.

We live in a pseudo-democratic society where we have some semblance of power through the ballot box. We are, however, in my view treading slowly towards dictatorship. You may not agree with that opinion, but it is mine.

And while I do not advocate violence as a current solution, I hope that undecided people may read these posts and perhaps, like you not agree with violent solutions, but may be swayed towards the aims.

With luck, enough can be persuaded to use the ballot box to achieve those ends and thus avoid violent solutions. That is my aim, violence being abhorrent but sometimes it is forced onus.

Let us both hope the ballot box triumphs and thus avoids violent conflict.

  2. Well that’s something I don’t agree with! Find other ways of dealing with things instead of using violence.
If people are so bloody brave now then why haven’t they stood up and done something over the last 4 years?
Stand up for the vulnerable and the needy, stand up for your human rights, stand up for everything against this filthy despotic government, but do it by downing tools, stopping everything, including transport etc for days, until the buggers have to step down. And don’t tell me it can’t be done because they don’t have enough police or army to take on every city, town and village in the whole of the UK.
    Get real and get clever!

    • Well, Jay, if you read my response to the previous comment you will see that is not what I am actually advocating, but do have reasons for reblogging some pro-violent blogposts.

Ian has actually stood up and tried to do something- much more than I have done.

Sometimes violence is not our choice, but forced upon us as in the miners strikes of the 1980’s.

Throughout history, the only real changes have been through violence- except in some very isolated instances such as Ghandi’s stance against imperial repression, and yet even then there was violence, first from the oppressors and then between the Muslim and Hindu communities he sought to unite.

Yet still I wish for peaceful change, but regretfully doubt real change will be peaceful.

Those that control wealth and power will not give it up easily; should we continue to be oppressed and continue to ask nicely, withdrawing our labour and with civil disobedience? This will be met, ultimately with violence, not with us as the initiators, but as a response.

I know this sounds like I advocate these actions, but I dearly would prefer a peaceful resolution, so that every person in this country can look forward to a happy, productive and secure life.
