Something for Nothing- Potentially!

with 2 comments

I have written this little discourse on the ‘something for nothing’ culture that Iain Duncan Smith appears to believe we live in.

Most of his fellow Tory mp’s have inherited millions; something for nothing. Most current mp’s of all flavours, if they weren’t privileged and born wealthy enjoyed a free education; something for nothing. So if you want to do away with the ‘something for nothing’ culture, look to your own house first.

Now, to us peasants, who are sitting back, expecting something for nothing.

Take the incapacitated, the unemployed and the single parent. Why do (or did?) we pay them benefits?

Well, if we didn’t, they would starve, freeze, die of disease or possibly be beaten to death by mobs whipped up by frenzied journalists misreporting and politicians complicit in their lies.

The reason we pay them, from the public purse is for their potential. Every disabled, unemployed or otherwise non-productive member of society- including our children, who have not yet been forced back up metaphorical chimneys to help feed their families, has the potential to be a politician, or an engineer or an educator or any one of many other professions or jobs. If we don’t allow them the tools or the opportunities to realise their potential, how can they possibly become productive, useful members of society.

It is the politicians that have taken this potential away; it is up to politicians to give it back. Real opportunities, not forced labour as a punishment.

Yes, there will always be a minority who will take advantage and be takers. But if we take the opportunities away to ensure they don’t get ‘something for nothing’ then we take away the opportunities for the overwhelming majority.

And we must never forget- even the takers have potential, given the right set of circumstances.

Your NHS will die on April 1 unless YOU act now

NHSRIPBlame it on the norovirus that’s clawing it’s way through my body if you like, but I think I’m getting cold sweats at the thought of the imminent demise of whatever’s left of the English NHS.By stealth, of course. What can we expect from the most underhanded, base and dissembling government in living memory?

Communication to the Salvation Army re: Workfar[c]e

leave a comment »

I have just sent this communication to the Salvation Army in condemnation of their collusion with Workfar[c]e-

Dear Sally,

Almost 2,000 years ago, Christians- amongst others were enslaved by their Roman masters the world over- that is those that didn’t die as a direct result of Roman policy.

I wonder, do you see any parallels with Workfar[c]e, the free labour (enslavement) opportunity the government is offering employers, and which I believe you are actively taking advantage of; the same government that is causing the deaths of disabled people by forcing them into such schemes?

I wonder, as a Christian organisation if you can see the immorality of your decision to support a scheme that takes people out of voluntary work they wish to do, with relevance to the career they wish to follow to be put into a scheme they have no interest in?

Maybe you should rescind your charitable status, and join our great capitalist organisations in the scramble for ever greater profits at the expense of ordinary men and women- and as a direct consequence, their children.

I wonder, sitting writing this what your Jesus would have said? Perhaps Timothy 5:18 “For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward.”

Regards

Paul Higgins
